So it's been two weeks...
So today’s class was intense! Got the ball rolling on Genius Hour project, learned a lot about Blogging and using the Blogger application from Google a lot more in depth. So leaving class needed to definitely take a minute to reflect on everything learned with 21st century technology.

There are a number of tools that I would take away from 8Y08 already. Blogging is a great way for students to reflect on their days and their lessons and projects in a less formal format, allowing them to add their unique character with different meme’s and giphy’s. In the world of physical education it is hard at times to tie together technology and being physically active but I think we can create goals and progresses that can be kept online with data and statistics to show students tangible results in their overall physical lifestyle. There is still lots to learn so who knows how much more can be added!
So it’s Genius Hour time and getting the ball rolling with a topic that is both interesting and personally related to my interest with physical education and maintaining a healthy lifestyle was tough. But I got the question and it relates a lot to every day activity; “Does an active body help keep an active mind?” My goals for my Genius Hour project relate a lot to how I live my life and how I can influence others to possibly inhibit a positive and active lifestyle in activities and trends they love most. Measuring my project is in the working progress it will roughly look like the following:
•Measure a short period of days with minimal physical activity but continue with my everyday academics (i.e readings, assignments, homework) and reflect how I feel emotionally. Do I feel exhausted, drained, unable to stay focused and on task, etc.
•Then measure the next period with adding a more vigorous active routine in different forms (my sports teams, everyday fitness routines and possibly add something different for me like yoga!)
•I will continue with academics through this period of time and see how I feel after my days filled with both my focus on academics and physical activities.
My motivation is to prove the positive outcomes of this small project and try to instil this lifestyle into the young learners of the world and those who are continuing their education at an older age as well. Demonstrate that living an active lifestyle does help keep an active mind!

A little about me
Who am I, well I’m a girl who once had a dream
to be a teacher in Physical Education and now living the life of a teacher
Candidate working towards that dream I had when I was a young girl. I knew from
a young age that teaching was for me, I loved working with others, help others
become successful and felt good when I past on knowledge and experience that I
have. Everyday is about learning and whether that is in a classroom or in a
gymnasium, I look forward to learning something new form my students each and
everyday. I enjoy being physically active, playing sports and keep tabs on all
the sports leagues out there.
I’m passionate about teaching; I have been
doing it since a young age in the sports world and in the world of recreation
and community development. I have been fortunate to have key role models in my
life that have helped me become the person I am today. I feel that paying it
forward to students is a way I can thank everyone who has played a key role in
my life to be where I am today.
Hope you enjoyed learning a little about me…remember
to stay active!

Did you know all this about Copyright?
Copyright is much more then copying a
picture and using it for oneself. The person must first understand if they have
the right to use that picture or anything published by an original author.
There are multiple forms of copyright that one must understand and follow
before using an authors image or post. Encouraging students to create their own
image would allow for them to be introduced into the copyright world and how to
provide Creative Commons licenses to their products. I would teach my students
how to specifically identify if an image from the Internet is okay to download
and use for personal/professional reasons, similar to what we learned in this
first task.
